Makara Cycles is a manufacturer of modular frame bicycles from India.

At Makara, an early-stage startup focused on modular high-performance bicycles, I gained my first hands-on experience in a professional prototyping environment. Taking full ownership of my projects, I led the design of a modular bicycle frame system across five frame sizes. This system enabled dozens of configurations by allowing interchangeability between main frames, sub-frames, handlebars, wheels, transmissions, and suspension systems. Each design was rigorously validated through finite element analysis (FEA) and prototype testing.

Beyond frame design, I spearheaded several key component projects, including front and rear aluminum hubs, a 6-speed belt-drive gearbox, and fixed-gear sprockets. I worked directly with suppliers during the fabrication process, incorporating their feedback to refine my designs and engineering drawings. My experience with 3D printing proved essential, leading to my responsibility for managing all rapid prototyping efforts across the company.
